Comm 323

Leadership & Events Management

This semester I was required to make an ePortfolio for my leadership and events management class. Since I already made an ePortfolio from a previous course, I had to curate for this course. What I like most about my portfolio is that I feel like it reflects how hard I’ve worked this semester. I really strived to make my portfolio more professional but I also wanted to personalize it. I wanted people to come to my page and learn a little bit more about me.

Now that I’ve had practice navigating wix and really learned the various elements, I feel like I’ve been able to really display my course projects and my blog experiences. So many employers search for prospective employees on various social media platforms so it’s good to have a site that you can display your professional work on. The most challenging moments I had with my ePortfolio was navigating the cursor. I always had to hit preview to school down and at times it was frustrating. I found that it was easier to use my Bluetooth mouse to scroll up and down easier.

If I could give advice to advice to future students about making a portfolio, I would tell them to be patient with the process. I was very overwhelmed when I first created my wix because it was a lot of information to take in.

I completed a portfolio in a previous course and I felt like I learned more during my time in Comm 323 Leadership & Events Management. I’m not sure if it’s because I had more practice to improve my portfolio, or that the assignments were different.

The leadership style that reflects me best is the situational style. It allows for more flexibility and that’s what I like the most. You can handle a situation in different ways depending on the setting and time, and also by who is involved.

My view on communication is about the same as before the course, but I enjoyed learning the leadership and events management side. I had so much fun creating events for this class and everything that factors into creating an event. Leadership and Events Management was very interesting and I will take what I learned from this course and apply it to life.
