This semester I was the Social Media and Marketing intern for Tree Naturals Inc. Tree Naturals is an all-natural hair and body product line for men, women, and children. I was very excited during the process of interviewing for the internship and then getting the call that I was selected. There’s no greater feeling than knowing what you’re passionate about and having someone else recognize that same passion.
During my internship the most important thing I gained was a mentor. The Tree Naturals CEO has been a wonderful mentor to me. Her goal was to sow as much into me as she possibly could. I've also gained knowledge in the Social Media and Marketing business. I've learned how to write effective newsletters, keep track of analytics, and expand the Tree Naturals brand. I've been apart of company events and photoshoots that exceeded my expectations. I've gained experience which is very important to become successful. I'm graduating soon and companies want experience. I'm so grateful that I've been able to gain so much experience from Tree Naturals. I've grown as a person and as a professional.
If I could go back at the start of my internship and give myself a tip, I would make sure I had better time management. My time management skills were not the best this semester and I've recognized that. I would tell future students to display good time management skills and to take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Networking is a key component to success.
After completing this ePortfolio for Communication 368- Internship, I believe I've improved my professional presence. Since I'm graduating soon, many prospective employers like to know about an individuals social footprint. Many will view your LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, just to find out more about you. By utilizing an ePortfolio, this gives people a chance to see the more professional side of yourself. I've learned so much this semester and I look forward to adding to my page as I start my professional career.
